we love the change in personal style that arrives as the air grows crisp and the leaves begin to fall — ha, just kidding — this is los angeles! we often find ourselves a bit disappointed when we can’t embrace many fall trends due to the fact that it’s just too goddamned hot here. that said, there’s one trend for fall 2014 that is really striking our fancy, and is conveniently conducive to los angeles weather.
from cushnie et otchs to tibi to stylestalker, designers on every end of the spectrum are looking westward this season — more on that later this week. we’re personally translating this trend for los angeles weather with silk button-downs, fringe, hats, and western-inspired booties. here we paired our equipment silk blouse (does it get any better than an equipment silk blouse? no. it doesn’t.) with our new favorite hat we can’t stop wearing, and for a feminine touch, a lacy short. we think this look would be great paired with black denim, as well, for when it gets a little chillier (by which we mean 75 degrees).
while we don’t promote going for a full-on cowboy vibe (more power to you, though, if that’s your thang), we love the subtle hint of i-shot-a-man-in-reno-just-to-watch-him-die badassery this fall trend lends to your look.
hat: biltmore for madewell; blouse: equipment (similar here); shorts: zara; booties: betsey johnson.
